30milesOUT.com-KAYAK BASS FISHING LAKE MEDINA TEXAS

on this episode i (ty southerland) hit a lake close to my home in mico, texas... the lake is medina... i called up a fishing buddy, chris, and asked him if he wanted to try the early morning bass top water bite... we met up at my house before day break and headed out to the lake... chris brought his new liquid logic manta ray kayak and i had my old wilderness systems ride... we paddled out toward the dam to see if the bass were busting on shad.. they were! the large mouth were all small schooling fish but still fun.... any kind of fish blowing up on top water baits are high on my list... i was looking for hybrid striper but never saw any.. chris and i picked up a few on top water plugs as well as on small rat-l-traps cranked just a few feet under the surface... this was one of my first episodes of 30milesOUT.... it is fun to look back and see how i used to film, edit and host...
chris and i moved father back into some fingers of the lake to look for black bass around structure like boat stalls and trees etc... we caught a few way back in the fingers but nothing to large... that old ride fishing kayak of mine was a great yak... they have since changed the design and moved some stuff around... still a great stable kayak for fishing... because of the pontoon hull design it is really easy to stand in and sight cast... i have done alot of fly fishing red fish on the fly rod... standing and site casting in this yak... not as fast as chris's manta ray but its quite the barge! great trip... looking foward to doing another lake medina episode this spring... this time i have a hobie pro angler loaded up with IMPACT LURE CO. top water plugs... can't wait...
